Operation Parent App Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 4, 2026

Operation Parent ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Operation Parent mobile app. This policy explains what the app collects, why, who we share it with, and how to delete it. It covers the mobile app only. Our webinar and website privacy policy covers the rest of operationparent.org.

The app is intended for parents and caregivers aged 18 and over.

What we collect

Your account. When you create an account we collect your email address. If you set a password we store it hashed, never in readable form. You can also sign in with a one-time code we email you instead of a password.

What you post. The Operation Parent community runs on Circle. Your profile name and photo, along with every post, comment, photo, and video you share, are stored there.

Photos, video, and microphone. The app asks for camera, photo library, and microphone access only when you choose to attach or record media for a post. We do not access your camera, photos, or microphone at any other time, and the app does not record audio on its own. The microphone is used only while you are recording a video.

Push notification registration. If you allow notifications, we store a push token for your device so we can tell you about new posts and replies.

What we do not collect. No advertising ID. No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. No location data. No health data. No advertising of any kind. We do not sell or rent your information, and we never have.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the service providers that make the app work:

These providers process data on our behalf. We do not sell your information to anyone.

How we protect it

Sign-in tokens are held in your device's secure storage, which is the iOS Keychain or the Android Keystore. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Everything travels over HTTPS.

If you turn on biometric unlock, your Face ID or fingerprint is checked by your device's operating system and never leaves your phone. We do not receive, store, or transmit biometric data.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account in the app: open Settings, tap Delete Account, and confirm. This is immediate and cannot be undone.

Deleted right away: your email address, your password, and every push notification registration for your account.

Not deleted: your community profile and everything you posted, including your name, profile photo, posts, comments, photos, and videos. These stay in the community so that conversations other parents are part of remain readable, and because many members joined the community on the web before the app existed.

To remove those too, email us at info@operationparent.org from the address on your account. Tell us whether you want your posts removed or left in place with your name taken off, and we will confirm when it is done. Full instructions are on our account deletion page.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account it is removed from our database at that moment and is not retained. Community content removed at your request is deleted from Circle. Routine encrypted backups may hold copies briefly before they age out.

Children

The app is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, email us at info@operationparent.org and we will remove it.

Changes

We may update this policy. When we do we will change the "Last updated" date above.
